Where's the baby?

Do you like "I Spy" books? Can you find the baby in the picture?
NOTE: No babies were harmed in the making of this picture.

First Day of School

Here are a few pics from the first day of school. Both boys were very excited to go to school and both had a great time. As you can see from the pictures, Cole does not mind having his picture taken at home, but not in public. Apparently, Holly embarrasses him. Ross told Susie that he didn't get beat up on the bus. So, I guess that makes it a good day. I also did not get beat up on the bus, so I guess that I had a good day, too.

A little kitty for Ross...

About a month ago, we decided to let Ross get a kitten after many tears at Grandpa and Grandma Farley's when he couldn't bring a stray home that night. Well, we decided to let both boys pick out a kitten and we drove to Rose Hill to get "barn" cats. These were cats that would be able to live outside and fend for themselves. They lasted about three days until a larger animal had them for breakfast. At least that's what I figure happened to them. So... I will not be posting their pictures as it might drag up bad memories. We did hear from Ross' good friend, Cherilea, that thier neighbors had kittens, so off we went to bring home some more bait for the coyotes. Ross fell in love with the above-pictured kitten and we immediately brought it home. Cole is still waiting on one of the newborns that wasn't yet off the tit. Since it has been a couple weeks and we still have the cat, I figured it was ok to post the picture. So, here's Cuddly Kitten.

Back to Work

I am back to work this week and very sad that my summer is over. I really love summer and loved spending it with the boys. We did so many fun things this summer and really enjoyed our pool.
So, I guess it is back to the real world for our family. Kids go back to school tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great week and a great school year. Good luck Jack, Emily, RJ, Heidi, Stella,& Zak on their FIRST school experience.
And Good Luck to Lea as she moves to Charleston this week and starts school at Eastern. Don't have too much fun Lea!

Bunny Rabbits

Well, with Luke growing up so fast, Holly and I found that we were having too much free time. So, Papaw bought the boys some bunny rabbits and a nice hutch. Actually, I was very much in favor of the rabbits. I used to raise them when I was a young boy. You can really learn a lot from rabbits. Anyway, the boys love them and they are very friendly. Thanks, Papaw!

Does anybody know what this is?

There are two of them growing in the pond. This was the largest. Looks and feels like jello, but doesn't shake when I laugh. If you have any thoughts let me know.

Warming the river, one beer at a time!

EDITOR'S NOTE: This post contains material intended for adults only.

Well, on Friday we head to southern Missouri to navigate the raging rapids of the infamous Current River. We have been making this outing for the past several years, so I don't have to tell you that we are veterans of the water. Such a brave, daring crew. I wouldn't go without them. (Actually, I have a little trouble going WITH some of them.) Anyway, last year, there were several funny things said around camp, so I put together a list of the Top 10. You definitely had to be there to understand some of them.

1. Pull over, I gotta pee.
2. Does anyone want some of Evan’s sausage?
3. Everyone needs a token Asain.
4. How can your butt smell so bad?
5. I wouldn't sleep in that one. Or that one.
6. If you flip this canoe, you’re not getting it for one year.
7. It’s Hank and he’s eating a sandwich.
8. BeerWinch… beer.
9. Thanks for stopping by Stan.
10. Come on Amanda, take one for the team.

Got Milk?

Here is a cute one of Luke. That is "Yo Baby" yogurt he is sporting, not really milk, but this wasn't intentional.
So that brings me to a personal frustration lately. FEEDING babies! I just don't like to do it. If I had to say one thing I dislike the very most (Hate is such a strong word) it would be that. It is so messy and he is constantly sticking fingers in his mouth or trying to grab the spoon and getting the food in his hair and ears...... I also did not like this task when Cole and Ross were babies. I cannot wait til he can feed himself.
Of course Chad thinks I am nuts and the job isn't that bad, however he only feeds him about 10% of the time!
So lets take a poll, what is the thing you dislike the most about raising babies/kids? Come on, let out your own frustrations.

Snipe Hunting

For those of you that don't know... Snipe are real! They are about the size of a quail and similar color only they have a really long beak. See picture. I last saw the elusive bird in the summer of 1992 while golfing with my friend, Hank Baltzell. For those of you that would like to see one, there is a dead one on the road in front of my house.
