Cub Scouts

Cole is a member of the local Pack 67 here in Newton. I had a few pictures of him and the other kids from the parade. He really enjoys it. Cub Scouts is for the entire family, so we spend a lot of time doing it with Ross and even Luke. Last weekend, they had a pack meeting at Sam Parr and was given a fire and storm demonstration from the Brownstown Fire Department. The kids had a blast and learned a lot.

Ride 'em Cowboy!

Well, we went to the Fall Festival last night to ride the rides and get something to eat. There really wasn't a lot of either. However, we did not starve to death and the boys had a great time. Here is some video of them riding the bull.

Shout Out

I'd like to give a shout out to my home girl, Lea Bo Dea. She went on the web recently with her new blog... http://www.leabodea.blogspot.com/

Be sure and check it out. She would probably rather I didn't advertise it or provide links as now we all have a little insight into her college life and what's going on up there.

Yeah, Lea!!!

Soccer Pictures

We are well underway with soccer this year. So far, Cole's team is undefeated. I am not sure about Ross' team. I thought they got beat last week, but he said they won, so who am I to argue. We are all winners in his book! Here are some pictures...

Luke is officially on the Move!

Well, he is crawling everywhere. And Susie reported today that he pulled up. We were afraid that since it took him awhile to crawl that he would move right on to walking.
We have some major adjustments to make around here. Last night I pulled a small toy and a piece of candy wrapper out of his mouth. It sure has been awhile since we have had to deal with this and we have never had to worry about stairs. I am sure we will have some stories to report.

River Rats

This past month, we have spent several weekends riding four-wheelers, taking jeep rides and just hanging out at the river. Yesterday, Papaw Dave and I spent several hours mowing trails, cutting brush and moving dirt to make a campsite down on their ground. In a couple weeks, we are taking the boys camping along with Dave & Glenda and Evan & Ashley and anybody else that wants to pitch a tent. We'll be swimming, fishing and roasting our wieners. We are still trying to figure out the latrine situation.

Michael Phelps

Look out! We have started training young Luke in the ancient art of swimming. I think the goggles really make his look. And, as you can see, he already has a sponsor. Go, Luke!

Turning Over a New Leaf

Ok, a couple of times over the years I have read that you aren't supposed to make resolutions on New Years but instead on September 1. I don't really remember why, exactly, but something to do with all the pressure and chaos of that time of the year.
So this year I decided to try it. The leaves are beginning to turn into my second favorite time of the year and we have somewhat settled into a school/work routine.
Now I have alot of things to change in my life, you know the usually laundry list: too much cursing, spending too little time with kids/yelling at kids, patience, gossiping, indulging too much....and the list goes on. However, this September I am going to work on that last 10pounds that little Luke needed. He is 8 months old now and doing fine on his own so I am going to step up my exercise and tone down the eating. I really want to fit into my old jeans!
So that is where I need the help. I am stuck on the same old snacks and meals. What foods do you all like to eat that is "Good for you?" Or maybe you have a trick that will get me motivated.
Maybe you know some crazy info like double stuff oreos are 1/2 the fat and calories than regular????? That would really help!
