It's an epidemic!

First, cows started escaping in Texas. That movement has now spread to Illinois. We woke up yesterday to find these four in our back yard. Guess what we had for dinner?

Whale Watching!

Here is a video that I took of three humpback whales off the side of our boat. Very cool!

Juneau!

We took a helicopter ride yesterday to check out the glaciers. We landed on the Taku Glacier. It is the only advancing glacier in the world. Very cool! The pictures are of the glacier, a river that's still frozen and one of the crevices in the glacier. The ice is really compacted snow, so it actually absorbs light which makes it blue. Bet you didn't need to know that. We are sailing to Vancouver today and flying home tomorrow. Hopefully, I will one day get the whale video to post. Later!

Skagway!

This first picture was the sunset that I tried earlier to post. We spent yesterday in Skagway and took a train ride to the summit of the White Pass. Takes about 20 minutes to get 3000 feet. The pictures are of the train, our port and a couple shots along the way. Very scenic! We were met by Canadian mounties at the border. Luckily, Uncle Bob didn't mind the strip search.

Iceberg! Dead Ahead!

Well, today we visited the Hubbard Glacier. That's the bit of ice in the background. Lot's of ice on the way in and out of the sound. I helped the Captain keep a lookout for ice. I think he grew weary of me shouting in his ear. These other pictures were from yesterday. We ate outside at a little restaurant in Icy Strait and the other one is the animal we found in our bed last night. Elephant? We also watched a magician/comedian that was so funny Holly was still laughing when we got to the bedroom.

Alaska Updates!

Well, here is a better picture of our ship. It is much bigger than our house. Yesterday, we got dolled up for dinner. Came home to find a rabbit in our bed. Today, we went whale watching. Here is a picture of one of the whales and a sea lion. We saw lots of whales. I will try to post a video.

Alaska Trip!!!

Everyone, we are on our way to Alaska! This first picture is a sunset in Vancouver the night before we departed. We ate at a nice restaurant called Sequoia Grill tucked conveniently away in a forest full of sequoia trees. This second picture is us at the hotel before we boarded our ship. Lots of flowers and nice people in Vancouver. Reminded me of Willow Hill. The last picture is our ship, The Serenade of Seas. We are full steam ahead for the Icy Strait. Tomorrow, we are going whale watching, although we have already seen a couple. And I am not counting the ones at the pool. Well, that's it for now. Back to the bar!

We took the boys to the game a couple weeks ago. Had a great time. Got some really good seats from Whitey. I obviously am a little behind posting to our blog. Susie was on my butt today about needing some updates, so here you go!
